Obituary for Refaat Nasr Morcos El-Maasrany

Refaat Nasr Morcos El-Maasrany
Refaat Nasr El-Maasrany
November 17, 1938 – October 6 ,2016
After living more than 77 years in his earthly tent, Refaat
moved to his eternal house in heaven, the house not built
by human hands.
Refaat was born in El Minya, Egypt but spent most of his
childhood and adult life in Cairo, Egypt.
He was the third of five children born to Nasr El- Maasrany
and Salma Thabet and was the beloved husband of Sabah
Morid for over 45 years. He and Sabah got married on July
15, 1971, and together they have a son, John, and a
daughter, Youna. Since they moved to Canada in April 2008,
he enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow every day. He
enjoyed playing with them and teaching them gardening
skills. They loved to hear his delightful old family stories.
Refaat was preceded in death by his parents, Nasr and
Salma, his brother Sobhy and sister Eqbal. He is survived by
his devoted brother Naiem, sister Wedad, beloved son and
daughter-in-law John and Gina El-Maasarani, loving
daughter and son-in-law Youna and Sameh Momtaz,
treasured grandchildren Joy, Joseph, Hannah and
Christopher, along with many nieces and nephews, in-laws,
and friends who were blessed to know him.
Refaat had an adventurous spirit; he loved the outdoors
and going on trips. He also enjoyed gardening and seeing
the seeds flourish and grow into strong plants. However,
being surrounded by his loved ones always was dearest to
his heart. He was also a great storyteller who captivated his
listeners’ ears and hearts.
Refaat touched the lives of many people with his smile and
generosity, and maintained his trademark of selfless giving
all his life till he was united with the Lord.
