The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Donald Bond can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolences

Condolence From: Hazel & Robert (Bob) White
Condolence: Hi Don:

Hazel and I only heard of your passing last night, April 29th. What a shock.

While we’ve only known each other since 1969 we did value your friendship, albeit a casual one. When we came to Newmarket, in 1969, me to join staff of The Era, you were one of the first of the locals to take me in. You did a great job showing me around Newmarket.

The Town’s Men’s Hockey League; Rays Baseball; Snowmobiling; Socializing; the Fire Department; the Office Specialty Fire on Prospect Street; to a desk from Office Specialty (that we still have); and in the last few years, the many casual conversations we would have while we both worked at Canadian Tire. A long time.

Please forgive Hazel and I for missing a last opportunity to visit with you while you rested at Roadhouse & Rose and missing your Final Service.

Rest In Peace Don.

Regards

Condolence: I am so sorry to hear of Don's passing. I had many interactions at fire scenes with Don while I was with YRP. He was a true professional and always made time to chat especially about hockey..
May the many memories that you have help you through this most difficult time.

Sincerely,

Condolence: I have just found about Don's passing. I am so sorry to hear that. His family lived down the street from my Grandmother and we spent time together as kids. We played minor hockey together and in the men's town league.

We are so sorry for your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Condolence: I first met Don over 35 yrs ago, I was a young referee who was just getting into OMHA playoffs. I was assigned to ref with the legend "Don Bond". He picked me up on main st and never really said much. We went to Schomberg and there were lots of fights. Don handled the game as he did life with dedication and respect.
35 years later , I have refereed with Don in the OMHA and mens league for many years. After retiring from his skates he performed his timekeeping duties with diligence and laughter on his face. I was with him just a few weeks ago and he was struggling with his health. We talked about life and its rewards and pitfalls.
To Don's family, we share your pain and grief but know that god has called Don to heaven to referee next season.

Rest in peace my friend
