MARCU, Maria - Passed away peacefully on June 23, 2017 at 8 am at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket. Loving lifelong wife of the late Col. Marin Marcu. Beloved mother of Brandusa and Daniel and mother in law to Zoe and Calin Alex. Proud grandmother of Christiana, Smaranda and Ana Maria. Daughter of the late Ilie and Zinca.

Maria, daughter of late Rev. Father Ilie and Zinca Ilie, was educated at the College of Teachers in Romania. After graduation she began her life-long mission educating many generations of children during their first school contact in grades 1 thru 4. She is remembered by many as the best teacher they ever had… She was a great mom and a very happy and optimistic character, having many friends during her years of a well accomplished life.

The family would like to thank all friends and church family that have been close in these difficult moments.

Friends may call at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street S., Newmarket on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 3 to 5 pm for a Christian Orthodox ceremony.

Orthodox Funeral Services will be Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11 am at Holy 40 Martyrs Church on 33 Mosley Street, Aurora. Interment to follow service at 1 pm at Highland Hills Cemetery on 12492 Woodbine Ave., Gormley.
