Obituary for John Barber

John Barber
John Arthur Barber aged 69 passed away peacefully and privately at home Nov 9th, 2017.

Jack is survived by his heartbroken wife of 46 years Susan (nee Duncan), daughters Elana (AJ) Barlas of Squamish B.C. , Bryn Barber of Toronto, Hilary Barber (predeceased) and a cherished grandson Archie Barber age 2 years. Jack also leaves his mother Florence Barber, sister Maye(Merle) Gray, brothers Norman (Marjorie) Barber and Ira (Norma) Barber; all of Sudbury. He will be also be missed by the supportive Duncan family, many loved nieces and nephews, a few close friends and helpful neighbours.

Jack was born in Sudbury and enjoyed an idyllic childhood playing hockey in both the winter and summer, swimming in Lake Ramsay and at camp on the West arm of Lake Nippising. Jack went to Cambrian College and Laurentian University where he attained his degree and he completed his accountant designation in the evenings. Jack worked 10 years at Inco, then moved around the province and ended up in Newmarket for the last 35 years. Jack planned for and executed "Freedom 55" and enjoyed a short 14 years of retirement from Ontario Power Generation. Jack loved family, camp, playing basketball and watching the NCAA mens basketball. Jack felt grateful to have cared for a grandson and great sadness in leaving him.

Thanks to Dr Green, Dr So, the Palliative team at Southlake and his Home Care team.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday Nov 14, 2017 at 1 pm at Roadhouse & Rose, 157 Main Street South, Newmarket with spring Interment at the Newmarket Cemetery.
