Condolences & Tributes

We encourage you to share any memorable photos or stories about Anthony. All tributes placed on and purchased through this memorial website will remain on in perpetuity for future generations.

Valerie, Liz, Jennifer and Caitlin,
I was sorry to hear of Tony's passing. I have many happy memories of him helping with his tools and telling stories about the love of his life- Valerie. Our happy memories of Fair Havens would be lacking without Tony being included. We had hoped to come today to celebrate his but I am sick. We send our love and are thankful knowing that Tony is in heaven with the God he loved and served.

Uncle Tony had such a strong impact on so many! His deep faith in God, his optimism, his funny, FUNNY sense of humor, his love for singing, his commitment to family were the fabric of who he was. I can still hear his voice singing, "I'll Fly Away..." How grateful I am that he was such an important and constant part of our family... and how eternally grateful I am for the sure hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ that brings such peace knowing that we WILL see him again! My thoughts and prayers will continue for all the family, as you grieve your earthly loss. Love and hugs to you all!

Sending love and prayers . . .
We all will certainly miss Uncle Tony but his reward of Heaven is well deserved as he was a wonderful Christian always ready to share his faith and help whoever was in need.

Some of my memories . . .
Being the oldest of the grandchildren and only 5 years younger than Uncle Tony he was my BIG brother. I have many great memories of spending weekends at Grandma and Grandpa’s farm in Cedar Valley. On Sundays Uncle Tony and Aunt Rose always made sure we went to the little white church on Vivian Road. Uncle Tony had a strong Christian faith early in life and his faith grew stronger daily. When Grandpa passed away it was Uncle Tony in his early teen years who took on the heavy role of “family decisions” for Grandma. I know it was his strong Christian faith, Divine guidance, and God given courage that made him the man that we knew and loved.

You are right about his sense of humor, it was God given too! Now, when we were growing up, Aunt Gwen and I were the little sisters and he would play tricks on us, try to twist our nose and tease both of us just like all big brothers did to their siblings. We’d try to tease back and he always won, but the BIG reward for us was, to get a ride, with him at the reins, on the horse drawn wagon and later on the tractor. I’d often walk to the field and help him open the gate so the cows could walk to the barn for the evening milking ritual.

Strange as it may seem, Valerie and her brother Philip were friends of mine when we attended the Church of the Nazarene in Newmarket. After high school I left Newmarket to attend nursing school in Toronto and after graduation went west to Canadian Nazarene College as the school nurse and that’s where I met Neil. Aunt Helen, uncle Tony and I were all married months apart, Helen and Hervey in December, Tony and Valerie in June and Neil and I in August. The miles and years certainly separated our families but our roots and memories are deep and far from the corner of Main and Timothy St. in Newmarket.

Remembering teasing, love and Uncle Tony’s exceptional strong Christian faith. I share your sorrow and Uncle Tony will be forever in our hearts and always missed.
Love, hugs and prayers.
