DERYCK, Vyvyan Gerard (Gerry) - Took his final journey peacefully at Southlake Hospital in Newmarket on Thursday, October 26, 2017. Gerard was surrounded by the love of Sharon his devoted wife of 55 years and by his loving sons and family. Beloved father of Nicholaus (Moraima), Wayne (Karin), and Robert. Proud Grandfather of Nick, Miguel and Talia. Vyvyan is survived by his sisters Sheila Lee (U.K.), Jean Byers (U.K.) and Barbara Rego and his brothers Raymond, Michael, Colin and William. Predeceased by his brother Monty and sister Desiree. Gerard, as he was widely known to his business associates, was born in Guyana S.A. on May 28, 1941. In Guyana, he worked for 2 large sugar plantations Diamond and Leonora Estates as their Electrical Engineer. In 1972 Gerard, Sharon and their 3 small sons emigrated to Canada. Gerard acquired a reputation for excellence and innovation in the world of high end audio equipment service and design. Gerard owned and operated Geralyn Electronics in Richmond Hill Ontario from 1981 to 2015. Friends may call at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street Newmarket on Wednesday, November 1st, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass is on Thursday, November 2nd at 11 a.m. at St. John Chrysostom Church, 411 Ontario Street, Newmarket.
