Learning to act

My best memory of Beth is when we did a murder mystery dinner theatre at Trinity Anglican Church in Bradford. I decided that I wanted to try out my acting ability so I joined the cast. During rehearsals, I watched as Beth led us through our roles with precision and compassion helping us all find the actor within ourselves. She made me believe that I actually could be an actor. In her presence I felt transformed. I believed it so much that after our successful dinner theater evening, I thought that I wanted to try the acting thing. I asked Beth if she would give me private lessons to see if this was a real thing for me. I remember going to her home once a week and learning movement, singing (not very well), reciting lines from Waiting for Godo and much more. This was the safe place that Beth created for me to discover that I wasn't really an actor but she never told me that. I found it out on my own. This is a memory that will be with me forever.
