Condolence: I was so sorry to read about Dr. Dobson’s passing. My late mother, Mae Johnson, spent many wonderful years working with Dr. Dobson. He was so very kind to our family and was very highly thought of. Our sympathy to all of you.

My father Michael Gerald O'Dwyer enjoyed Dr Ross' company whether at the Uxbridge farm or sharing golf outings while in Florida . We are blessed by their friendship and that of our families. Condolence: For a very brief time in 1978 when I started my surgical care I was on staff at SGH before moving to the Wellesley Hospital and building the Institute of Cosmetic Surgery in Toronto. I vividly remember Dr.Dobson as a superb technical surgeon and the consummate professional and gentleman. This memory lasts to this day..a role model for our profession! Condolence: The Low family would like to offer our condolences on Ross's passing. Our father Dr. George Low was also one of the originals working with Ross at the SGH. Our families enjoyed our camping trips across Canada together, many found memories of a kind and gentle man.

Condolence: To the Dobson family, our sincerest condolences. We have such wonderful memories of times together on Bendale, at Scarborough General... we remember Ross as such a kind, gentle and helpful gentleman. We also remember him as a superb surgeon who would go out of his way to help his patients and colleagues. In his work at the hospital, the most complicated procedures were done in the most seemingly effortless way. Many decades of friendship were shared. We will treasure the memories.

For a brief moment he was also someone I turned to in my hour of need -- I had developed a lump in the inguinal area and, in the mens washroom at CPSO, he diagnosed my hernia! I know he never billed for that!

Condolence: I am sorry to hear of Ross's passing. Even before I completed Medical School my father Dr. Roy Hodgkiss (fellow Founder of Scarborough General) would speak of Ross's abilities and character. When I joined the General Surgery Service at SGH in 1980 Ross provided me with advice and support. I had the good fortune to work with him as a colleague until he retired. He was clearly an outstanding Surgeon and an equally outstanding gentle man. He will be missed.

Condolence: My grandfather, Ross, was an amazing man. My memories of him at Beacon Hall will be preserved in my mind forever. As he was leaving Beacon Hall he was throwing out many things. I was lucky enough to be given to small plaster bust that I keep on my desk to this day. Now whenever I look at it I think of him, my grandfather. He left a legacy that makes me proud to call myself a Dobson.

Condolence: From the Hobbs family - We are very saddened to hear of Dr. Dobson's passing. While I was only able to meet with him a few times, he was always welcoming and a pleasure to be with and he and Irene made you feel like part of the family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family for your loss.

Condolence: From the Cameron Family to the Dobson Family, our most sincere sympathies. I have so many memories of all the Dobson Family - you couldn't ask for a kinder and more compassionate couple than Ross and Irene. Both my Mom (Doreen)and my Dad (Gordon) loved them so much for so many years. I remember trips to the farm too - playing in the hay with kittens. Dad now resides at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre - and I'm not really sure I can tell him this. The pioneers of Scarborough General Hospital are a special team of old school (the way it should be) medicine, and we are sorry to see one of the best pass on. If you don't mind a kind remembrance - when I had an attack of appendicitis, Dr. Dobson was the surgeon. After the operation he had brought a troop of clerks or interns to see my progress. I felt like the story-book 'Madeline' holding up my shirt for all to see the incision beautifully stitched up. I will also remember he gave me an extra week off work because I had to carry a ten pound gun holster on my waist.
