Obituary for Nellie Wild (Foulds)

Peacefully in Newmarket on February 20, 2018, formerly of Renfrew Ontario in her 99th year. Dear Mother of Reina (Robert Pearson), Grandmother of Karen (Dan Wassenaar) and Janet (Conrad Carbonell), Greatgrandmother of Skylar and Logan Wassenaar, Pearson and Camdyn Carbonell. Nellie was born in Sutton-in-Craven, Yorkshire England on June 25, 1919, the youngest of three children. She came to Canada in 1948 to marry Bill Wild of Birkenhead, England. The couple met while Bill was attending Leeds University and Nellie was working as a shorthand-typist. They began their life in Canada in Hespeler Ontario where both worked at
Dominion Woollens. A daughter, Reina, was born in 1950. The family moved to Montreal and then to Renfrew
in 1956, where Bill worked at RCA Victor until his retirement. Nellie enjoyed life in Renfrew where she had many friends on Martin Street and at St. Paul’s Anglican Church. Mom was an expert baker, an accomplished and prolific knitter and needleworker. She enjoyed playing Cribbage and doing the daily newspaper JUMBLE puzzle. She knitted many baby outfits for the Renfrew Victoria Hospital gift shop. Many thanks to Dr. Bocknek, Dr. Yuen, her caring PSWs, nurse Robert and the attentive staff of Roxborough Retirement Residence for all their kindness during her three-and-a-half years there.
