Obituary for George Elwood Walker

WALKER, George Elwood “Mr. Hawaii” –
Passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, on Wednesday April 18th, 2018, in his 77th year. Forever loved and dearly missed loving husband of Sherryll (nee Clarke) for 25 years. Beloved father of Holly (David), Andrew Hess and April Hess. Proud grandfather of Ruby Hess. Much loved brother of Helen (late Emerson) Pendleton and Judy. Dear son of the late Marie and Vincent Walker. George served in the RCAF as a mechanic; with the City of Etobicoke as a firefighter and Fire Prevention Officer for 15 years; with the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal and the Ontario Fire College as a Fire Safety Officer and Instructor for 15 years; and as a Professor at Seneca College’s School of Fire Protection Engineering Technology, Newnham Campus for over 10 years. George was a jack of all trades and mastered them all. Special thanks to the caring staff at Southlake. Friends may call at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St.S., Newmarket on Thursday, April 26th from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service in the chapel on Friday, April 27th at 11:00 a.m., followed by cremation. The family invites all visitors to wear their best Hawaiian shirts in George’s honour. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
