Patricia Adalee McDowell (May 31 1936-May 8 2018)

Patricia Adalee McDowell, a long-time resident of Richmond Hill and wife of the late Kenneth Ross McDowell, died on May 8, 2018 after a short illness, in her 82nd year.
Daughter of the late Aubrey and Evangeline Carefoot of Brantford and Thornbury, Ontario, Patricia was born in Thornbury and grew up in Brantford, where she met the love of her life and married Ken McDowell on Aug. 24, 1957. The couple immediately started a family and successfully raised their three children, Greg McDowell (Sandy) of Courtice, Kim Carretta (Rob Colwill) of Newmarket, and Shawn McDowell (Deelyn) of Aurora.
The couple moved to Toronto and bought their first home in North York, where Ken worked as a high-school teacher. Patricia became a homemaker, giving up her career at Bell Canada as a telephone operator. She volunteered her time as a crossing guard and would later became involved in school functions and hockey associations.
The couple in the early 1970s moved to Richmond Hill, where they built their own house and made it a loving home for their family and all of their friends who visited.
Left with tender memories of Patricia are her three children and nine grandchildren: Olivia (Tom Gotz), Keely, Rory (Nicole McDowell), Meaghan, Taylor, Paisley, Brendon, Kendra and Devin; and four great-grandchildren: Charles and Erik Gotz, and Bennett and Hudson McDowell.
She leaves behind her brothers Don (Irene), Dave (Lorraine) and Martin Carefoot and her sister, Arlene Ketcheson (Bob). Her other siblings, Neville and Paul Carefoot and Elizabeth Sullivan (Barry), predeceased her.
Patricia shared 59 beautiful years of marriage with her husband and friend, Ken, before he died in 2016. The couple enjoyed spending summers at the cottage that they built in Southampton on the scenic shores of Lake Huron, and hosting many family get-togethers.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration Of Life is planned in August in Thornbury, where Patricia's mother and father and some siblings are buried.
